Lisa has been with Ryan White Wellness Center for 14 years. She enrolls patients into the RWWC to ensure they receive medical care, assists patients with social and emotional support needs, provides community resources for care needs and assist with Federal and state programs for patients that are eligible to receive these benefits. As Lead Case Manager, she is the intake coordinator for patients seeking care and assigns patients to the appropriate Care Manager. Lisa facilitates a weekly Case Mgmt. Meeting as well as organize / coordinate an annual CM retreat. Lisa is the POC for case mgmt. issues and works closely with the Program Director on the development of policies and procedures for the CM team. Lisa has a Bachelor of Social Work from Benedict College in Columbia and a Master of Social Work from the University of South Carolina in Columbia. She enjoys having the ability to assist patients with access to their care and empowering them to be active in their care needs. Lisa is passionate about hanging out with my family, exercising, and working in my yard. She has lived in Charleston all her life mainly because all her family is here. Lisa started working in the field of HIV in the 80’ as an inpatient case manager at Charleston Memorial Hospital. She has seen the progression of HIV mgmt., come full circle. Her dear friend died of AIDS in 1997 and to honor him, she wanted to continue this work, so when a position opened with the Ryan White Program in 2008, she jumped at the chance. Lisa believe that once you teach someone to be self-sufficient, they take more pride in their abilities to make change for themselves. The best advice she ever received was from her dad: “Be kind to people, help when you can, and remember to give back when you have been blessed to receive.”
